Intro (or: The Writer Of This Post Is Too Busy For This Project)

Good Morning!

Or Afternoon.

Or Evening.

Whatever floats your boat.

We like a little bit of variety here at Just Green Media. Our goal is to share with you a piece of everything. From reviews to recommendations, we want to cover it all.  Head writer Julia Schaefer (who are we kidding, she's the only writer) will be kicking off this blog with a fantastic, overly complicated series. Take it away, Julia.

My series "One of Each" is the reader's ultimate guide to aesthetics. What movie gives you the same feeling as listening to "Adele"? What painting will lovers of "The Umbrella Academy" really get into?  If Marie Antoinette had a favorite marvel movie, what would it be?

These are the questions that keep me up at night.

Each week, I'll compile a list of shows, books, movies, music, and more that fit into one niche vibe. It's like a Pinterest Aesthetic but complied of real, tangible online media.

Leave a comment and let me know what vibe you'd like me to compile! It can be anything from "Fairy Garden" to "Abraham Lincoln."

Or, give me your favorite piece of media, and I'll match it up with some favorites from other categories!

Why trust Netflix's detailed, adjective-based Movie Reccommendation ML System or use Spotify's highly advanced AI program? Those may be great, and free, and already downloaded to your phone, but we at Just Green Media have something those other programs don't:

A desperate need for validation and a grade-oriented model of self-fulfillment.

Ha.

Hahahahahaha.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I might be using the Piggly-Wiggly strategy of competing with companies that are far superior to my service in every way.

Anyway...

The options for this project are limitless. I haven't sat down and watched TV (or consumed any other media besides tiktok) since the summer, so I'm excited to get back into the world of TV! I want to use this project to find new favorite shows, books, and more. Anything to say that I'm watching TV for homework.

Most of this project will be about my personal opinions, but I hope that along the way I can develop a sense of personal writing style. This is the 3rd blog I've created, but this is the first with a specific audience, schedule, and theme. I hope that working within those constraints will motivate me, rather than inhibit me.

In summary: The subject of this blog is "Vibes" or "Aesthetics" but I will be exploring these topics through different forms of media. You can think of this page as a media review page, if that makes more sense than all the nonsense I wrote up there :)

  1. Julia, lovely blog post. I look forward to reading your future posts! It sounds like they will be very post-modern... Eclectic, if you will. My recommendation is media that will make me feel the way "Haunted" by Taylor Swift does. I know that's a high bar, but if anyone can identify that vibe, it would be you.

  2. Hi Julia! This is SO cool! I love doing similar things on my own Pinterest and Spotify accounts (I have a Pinterest board called "off to the ball" and a playlist called "humming softly to my plants while I wait for my tea to brew"). My request would have to be either a cottage-core or royal-core vibe. I can't wait to see where you take this!

  3. This is so perfectly a blog--I know that sounds weird to say, but it is true. I really like your writing style and approach to selecting a topic. I was expecting the first set of connected media to show up on this post along with your introduction to the blog.

  4. JULIA, I love your writing style in this I literally couldn't stop myself from thinking the whole time , "Wow, I really took this approach. This is really easy to read and consume." Please write about anything I love the way you write!
